WORKMANSHIP & AFTERCARE
18-Month Workmanship Warranty
Last updated: 5 August 2026
1. Our promise
For eligible painting work supplied by A & J PAINTING AND HANDYMAN SERVICE, trading as A&J Painting (“A&J”), we provide an 18-month workmanship warranty from the date the covered work is practically completed. This is a workmanship warranty, not a guarantee against every future mark, crack, stain, colour change or failure caused by the property, environment or another person.
2. What is covered
Subject to this policy and the accepted quotation, the warranty covers a material defect in A&J’s application or preparation of the specifically quoted and paid-for painting work that causes the coating to peel, flake, blister or fail prematurely in an affected area, where the cause is A&J’s workmanship. It applies only to the original customer and original service address, and only to work identified in A&J’s quotation or invoice.
3. What is not covered
The warranty does not cover: pre-existing, concealed or structural conditions; building movement, settlement or hairline cracks; water ingress, leaks, dampness, condensation, flooding, humidity, mould or mildew; defective plaster, screed, render, substrate, roofing, plumbing, waterproofing, electrical or air-conditioning systems; rust, efflorescence, contamination or pest damage; normal wear and tear, dirt, scuffs, stains, impact damage or accidental damage; colour fading or variation caused by light, age, product batches or environmental exposure; areas where a customer requested work to proceed despite a disclosed condition or against our recommendation; works not included in the quoted scope; or a manufacturer/product defect, which is subject to the relevant supplier’s warranty.
The warranty also does not apply where the affected area has been repaired, altered, cleaned with unsuitable products, repainted, drilled into, damaged or otherwise interfered with by the customer or another person after A&J’s completion; where reasonable maintenance or ventilation has not been maintained; or where access for inspection or rectification is not provided.
4. Conditions of warranty
The relevant invoice must have been paid in full. You must notify A&J in writing during the 18-month period and within 14 days after first discovering the issue, with the service address, invoice or quotation reference, a description, photographs and any relevant history such as a leak or repair. A claim does not mean that warranty coverage has been accepted.
5. Inspection and remedy
A&J may inspect the affected area and reasonably investigate the cause before deciding whether a claim is covered. If we confirm a covered workmanship defect, our remedy is, at our option, to prepare and reapply coating to the affected area using a reasonably comparable product and finish. We may need to schedule the rectification at a reasonable time and you must provide safe access. Localised rectification may not exactly match surrounding aged or sun-exposed paint, and we are not required to repaint an entire room or property unless reasonably necessary to rectify the covered defect.
6. Limits of this warranty
This warranty provides rectification only. It does not provide cash compensation, a refund, replacement of personal property, hotel or relocation costs, loss of use, loss of rent, loss of profit or indirect or consequential loss, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This warranty is additional to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
7. How to make a claim
Email alvin@ajpainting.com.sg with the subject “Warranty claim”, or contact Alvin at +65 9382 1820. Please include the address, your invoice or quotation reference, photographs, the date first noticed and a short description. Do not carry out remedial work or appoint another contractor for the affected area before giving A&J a reasonable opportunity to inspect it, except where urgent work is needed to prevent injury or further property damage.
